🎨🌟 Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month in Ms. Meyer's Class! 🌟🎨 In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Ms. Meyer's seventh-grade digital media arts scholars at GMS completed a creative and meaningful unit on symmetry, inspired by the rich tradition of Talavera tiles. During the unit, scholars explored how digitizing and modernizing traditional art forms can help preserve and celebrate cultural heritage. Inspired by the craftsmanship of Talavera tile makers, with their use of nature motifs and symbolism, each scholar created a unique digital design reflecting their ethnicity, culture, or personality. They carefully incorporated symmetry, balanced positive and negative space, chose harmonious color schemes, and applied new digital art techniques. To unite their individual designs into a collaborative masterpiece, scholars voted to include a maroon square, symbolizing their connection to the GMS community. This beautiful collaborative piece is proudly displayed at GMS, and as an extra special touch, each scholar is also creating their own clay tile to take home. 🎉🌟 A Celebration of Learning in Ms. Brennan's Class! 🌟🎉 Ms. Brennan's fourth-grade scholars recently wrapped up their CKLA Middle Ages unit with a creative and engaging celebration! 🏰✨ The scholars immersed themselves in the time period by enjoying a Middle Ages-themed meal—similar to what a serf might have eaten—and dressing up in Middle Ages attire to truly bring history to life. The celebration featured several themed stations: 🎲 Scholars played checkers, a game invented during the Middle Ages. 🖥️ They embarked on a digital quest using their computers. 🎨 They created beautiful stained glass window art. 📜 Scholars also designed wanted posters for Robin Hood, imagining the perspective of an English king. The event was a fun and memorable way to conclude the unit, showcasing the scholars' creativity and enthusiasm for learning.
