Mrs. Lott's Physical Education classes at Boulevard Elementary had fun participating in a Cardio Drumming Unit . The students used heart rate monitor watches, and learned about how cardio exercise affects their bodies. They also learned the importance of warming up their muscles, and the FITT principle - Frequency, Intensity, and Time. The students enjoyed creating their own cardio drumming routine in small groups that they were able to show their classmates.

On April 27th, Gloversville participated in the 41st Olympics of Visual Arts Competition (OVA). This is an annual statewide competition where teams of student artists work on a long-term art project together and then do an on-site spontaneous problem the day of the competition. Boulevard Elementary, GMS, and HS each had a team participating. Boulevard came in first place in their category!

The City of Gloversville Police Department will be participating in the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee 2023 “No Empty Chair” campaign this week. Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death and serious injury for people ages 16-20, and as the spring weather arrives, high school students across the area will be joining their friends to travel. The campaign promotes specific enforcement for each day of the week. The area of enforcement for each day is as follows: Monday, 04/24/23- Speeding in School Zones. Tuesday, 04/25/23- Seat belt and child restraints. Wednesday, 04/26/23- Cell Phone use and Texting. Thursday, 04/27/23- Operation Safe Stop, which involves motor vehicles passing stopped school buses. Friday, 04/28/23- Underage Drinking and Impaired Driving. The City of Gloversville Police Department has partnered with the Gloversville Enlarged School District to promote safe motor vehicle operation by their scholars. Specifically, the Gloversville Enlarged School District has promoted the Police Department’s participation in the event by advertising it on their digital billboards on district properties, and by permitting posters to be prominently displayed in the High School. Motor vehicle operators should expect an increased Police presence in and around school zones for the duration of the campaign.
