¡Debatamos! Scholars in Mrs. Barranco’s Spanish 5 class (Span 201 at the University at Albany-SUNY) researched controversial environmental topics this week. Scholars were asked to prepare points to support the position assigned to them, as well as prepare possible rebuttals to facts and opinions shared by the opposing side. The debates were conducted entirely in their second language.
New York State Seal of Biliteracy candidates delivered Spanish, Latin, and English presentations at Gloversville High School last week. As scholars work toward achieving this commendation that recognizes the value of cultural and linguistic diversity, they will continue to develop 21st-century skills, which will help prepare them for success in our ever-changing society. The New York State Seal of Biliteracy is an accolade awarded to students who have demonstrated a high level of proficiency in English and at least one other world language.
FAFSA Night
Attention Seniors and Parents/Guardians,
On Wednesday January 31st at 6:00 pm in the GHS Library, representatives from FMCC's Financial Aid office, along with the school counselors, will be hosting a FAFSA completion night for parents and scholars. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the form you need to fill out to get any financial aid from the federal government to help pay for college.
You will need to bring your tax information and a computer. Prior to coming, parents and scholars will need to apply for their FSA ID, (here is the link for that: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch).
Please reach out to your School Counselor if you have any questions.
