ACTIVITIES, ATHLETICS, & CLUBS

Research shows that the more scholars are involved in school activities, the more successful they are academically and the more they enjoy their time and experience in school. The scholar - teacher relationship is one of the most important elements of academic success and extracurricular participation allows scholars and teachers to interact more often, and on a different level than in the classroom, leading to improved and more meaningful relationships that translate back to the classroom.

Teen Town

  • Teen Town is for all GMS scholars who meet the eligibility criteria for the specific event. The criteria and list of eligible scholars will be released prior to the event. The goal of Teen Town is to provide a safe, fun atmosphere for scholars to interact socially within a supervised environment. Teen Town is held on specific Friday nights throughout the school year and offers food and entertainment including a dance floor with a DJ or band, various sports in the gym, and a variety of other activities.

  • Only scholars presently enrolled and attending Gloversville Middle School will be admitted to Teen Town. Teen Towns are scheduled periodically throughout the year, dates and times to be announced. No scholar arriving more than 30 minutes after the scheduled start time will be admitted unless arrangements are made with a building administrator ahead of time. Students will not be allowed to re-enter the building once they’ve left the event for the evening. Any chaperone, with permission from a school administrator, may turn away or eject any scholar displaying inappropriate or disorderly conduct. Parents of the scholar(s) in question will be notified and the scholar(s) will not be allowed to attend any future Teen Town for the remainder of the school year. Students who are suspended from school or absent from school on the day of the Teen Town will not be permitted to attend.
