Dear Gloversville School Community:
The Gloversville Enlarged School District became aware of two new COVID-19 cases today.
We had a Gloversville Middle School student test positive and as a result, we have ten staff and
six students who will need to quarantine through the end of this week. One of our 7th-grade
teams will be fully remote for the next three days.
Kingsborough Elementary School also had a student test positive. That case resulted in three
staff members and nine students needing to quarantine for the next two days. Their quarantine
ends Thursday, January 14, 2021.
We became aware of these positive cases over a week after the affected children were last in
school, which is the reason the quarantine periods are so short. All impacted students and staff were contacted directly by school officials. As always, we wish a speedy recovery to the
affected students and wish continued good health to all who are quarantined. We look forward
to all returning to their normal schedule next week.
As stated in my previous letter, we are trying to strike a balance in communicating when
appropriate and not over-communicating. These scenarios may become routine across our
district until the virus abates in our region. Let's all continue to do our part to mitigate the spread and stay focused on the important business of educating children as best we can.
Sincerely,
David Halloran
Superintendent of Schools
