Gloversville High School Community,
This letter is to inform you that on the evening of Tuesday, January 19th, 2021 we were informed that a member of our school community tested positive for COVID 19. This resulted in five high school staff members and forty-four students having to be quarantined. All those quarantined are scheduled to be back in school on Monday, January 25th.
The individual who tested positive was last in our school on Wednesday, January 13th, 2021, and was tested for COVID 19 soon after they developed symptoms on Thursday, January 14th. This person received the results of their COVID test on January 19th, 2021, and notified the school immediately.
We are working in conjunction with Fulton County Public Health and have completed contact tracing. Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive or who is in quarantine.
We understand these are difficult times and I thank those involved in this issue for their understanding and empathy. I have been informed by the staff members who are contacting families, that they have received nothing but kindness and cooperation from those individuals.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or our COVID liaison Mr. Michael DeMagistris (ext. 1067).
Respectfully,
Richard R. DeMallie, Ed. D.
